Coach David Alexander

David enters his eighth season as the St. Louis Blues Goaltending Coach, having held the distinction of being the youngest goalie coach in the NHL for six consecutive seasons. In 2019, he made history as the youngest goalie coach to win a Stanley Cup. Under Alexander's guidance, St. Louis Blues goalies have not only contributed significantly to team success but have also achieved numerous personal accolades. Noteworthy achievements include Jordan Binnington's All-Star appearance in 2019 and top rankings in league statistics, such as Carter Hutton's .931 save percentage in 2017-18, Jordan Binnington's .927 save percentage and 1.89 GAA in 2018-19, Jake Allen's .927 save percentage and 2.15 GAA in 2019-20, and Ville Husso's .919 save percentage in 2020-21.

In 2025, Alexander will serve as Canada's goalie coach at the Four Nations Cup, showcasing his international coaching prowess. From 2013 to 2017, he served as the Goaltending Development Coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning, concurrently handling goaltending and video coaching duties for the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL. During this tenure, Alexander mentored eventual Stanley Cup champion and Vezina Trophy winner Andrei Vasilevskiy, as well as AHL All-Star Kristers Gudlevskis, who represented Latvia in the 2014 Olympics. His tenure culminated in Syracuse's 2016-2017 North Division and Eastern Conference championships, reaching the Calder Cup Finals.

Prior to Syracuse, Alexander spent five years (2008-2013) as the Goaltending Coach at the University of Maine Black Bears, where he enhanced the program's rich goaltending tradition. His tenure saw Maine goaltenders honored with Hockey East Rookie Team selections, Academic All-Star accolades, and breaking school records. He notably collaborated with future Stanley Cup champion Scott Darling during this period.

Beyond his team accomplishments, Alexander has made significant contributions to hockey development with Hockey Canada, including roles with the U17 Team Atlantic program and on Hockey Canada's National Goaltending Advisory Board. His co-ownership of Network Goaltending, once the world's largest NHL goalie camp, underscores his entrepreneurial acumen. Network Goaltending now serves as a leading educational platform for goalie coaches worldwide, annually hosting the Goalie Coaches Symposium. Additionally, Alexander co-founded Double Blue Sports Analytics, a goalie-specific data company merging advanced data tracking with iPad and GoPro technology. He also developed the X-Tracker, an innovative training aid designed to enhance goalie visual tracking skills, further demonstrating his commitment to advancing goalie development globally.

Coach Thomas Speer

Thomas Speer, is in his third season as the goaltending coach for the NHL’s San Jose Sharks. He served as the goaltending coach for the 2023 U.S. Men’s National Team. Prior to joining the Sharks, Speer worked three seasons (2019-22) for the NHL’s Calgary Flames as the team’s development goalie coach working with renowned rookie goalie Dustin Wolf.

Speer was USA Hockey’s national goaltending coach from 2017-19, including working with the netminders of both the U.S. Under-17 and Under-18 Teams at USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program from 2017-2019. He also served as the goaltending coach for the silver medal-winning U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team at the 2018 IIHF Men’s Under-18 World Championship. Prior to joining USA Hockey, Speer worked as director of amateur goaltending for the Dallas Stars; as a goalie development coordinator for USA Hockey in Texas and Oklahoma; and as director of camp development and personnel for Elite Goalies in Allen, Texas. He also served as a goaltending coach for the Allen Americans of the ECHL for four seasons.

Speer knowing that goaltending camps were lacking on the West Coast founded Pacific Coast Goaltending in 2021. Through his networking he has brought in experienced coaches from around North America to help develop goalies of all ages.
